More Knols have migrated

If we see now, there are more knols with redirect links as more knols were migrated by their authors to other platforms. Wordpress is the first choice of most of the knol authors. There are some authors who moved to their own blogs or sites, some moved to Google Blogger.

My management articles are being moved to focused blogs on Blogger. I have good amount of content on Blogger. Hence these blogs can be connected with existing content more easily.

Knols are being migrated

Google made an alternative arrangement for posting the content on Knol platform. Knol authors can migrate their content to Wordpress platform using Annotum theme. Initial there were some problems in migration and some knol authors expressed anxiety. But now some active knol authors have migrated their knols to Wordpress and are encouraging others also to migrate.

Annotum theme has collaborative writing facility. We still do not know if public can write on articles voluntarily. Annotum is built more for reviews, approvals and edits and less for crowd contribution to articles. But they may be able to include crowd contribution facility in the platform. But so far there is no advertisement for it.

I am moving some of my management category knols to a Google Blogger blog Management Theory Review. The blog will be a focused place and readers can locate and read the articles more easily than in the Knol format where they are scattered in 4000 articles.

Knol Author Excited

Dr. K.V.S.S. Narayana Rao, a knol author has reported that daily page views to his knol portfolio has crossed the four thousand figure. Knol is having great traction and the visitors and page view number are going up steadily.

Narayana Rao also maintains record of historical peaks in performance of his knols.

Knol page view record can be visited for observing the steady growth of Knol performance. Mr. Rao could account for one percent of Knol as he posted around 5800 knols and Knol project may be having around 600,000 knols. It is good to note that his daily page view performance is showing strength and going up.

Google+ is the social interaction product launched by Google. It has attracted 40 million members so far and the numbers of are swelling. Google+ pages feature is just introduced. Many organizations are opening the pages. YouTube also opened the page and is inviting all to circle the page and receive news of YouTube through Google+.

As an active author on Knol, another Google platform, I also opened Google+ pages. I shall circle the YouTube page and share interesting news on Knol as well as my pages. Already I am active sharer of YouTube videos on Knol.

Writers and Editors in USA

In May 2008 there were approximately 281,300 writers and editors in the United States
according to the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Nearly 70 percent of them were self-employed or working as independent contractors.

According to the BLS data, the middle 50 percent of writers and editors took home between $38,150 and $75,060 However, the top 10 percent of these professionals earned more than $106,630 a year.

Visitors to Knol are Increasing Day by Day

Knol authors are observing increase in visitors and page views to their knols.
Quantcast also shows increase in visitors to Knol in July 2011.
Knol is now a top 1000 website and is showing performance to increase further in ranking.
Knol Author Foundation informed the press about Knol's performance through a press release.

Knol is now a top 1000 website

Knol has an estimated monthly unique visitors number of 5.6 million and hence it qualifies for ranking as top 1000 website.

Knol authors are happy with this milestone and going ahead to contribute more and increase the rank further.
